What is the Shrine?
Mother Cabrini Shrine has many peaceful areas for our visitors to enjoy and take time for personal reflection. Some of the highlights of Mother Cabrini Shrine include: our Main Chapel, Grotto Chapel, Stairway of Prayer, Walking Rosary, Meditation Walkway, Ten Commandments, Mysteries of the Rosary, Stations of the Cross, our Natural Spring, Gift Shop, Cabrini Museum, Stained Glass Windows and our Heart of Stones.

How do we get to the Shrine?
Take I-70 West to exit #259, follow the signs to the Shrine.
Take I-70 East to exit #256, follow the signs to the Shrine.

Is there an entrance fee?
No, we are free and open to the public 7 days a week.

Is there a way to get to the top without using the steps?
Yes, we do have a road that you may drive up to see the statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Please inquire about access to this road at our Front Desk or Gift Shop.

How did this place come into being?
Mother Cabrini Shrine was originally a summer camp set up for the orphan girls at the Queen of Heaven Orphanage in Denver, CO, which Mother Cabrini started. She bought this land in 1909 as a summer escape for the girls.

Why did Mother Cabrini come to Denver?
By the invitation of Bishop Matz in 1902, Mother Cabrini came to Denver to work with the Italian immigrants and miners. This is one of the ways she became known as the Patron Saint of Immigrants.

Did Mother Cabrini live at the Shrine?
Mother Cabrini did stay and walk on this property, but she did not live here.

How many sisters are here?
We currently have three Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus at Mother Cabrini Shrine.

Does the diocese give you money?
No, we are self-supporting and receive no funding from the Archdiocese of Denver.

Are you open every day?
Yes, we are open every day, 7 days a week.

How many steps are there?
There are 373 steps that lead to the Sacred Heart of Jesus statue.

Who is Mother Cabrini?
Mother Cabrini was the first American Citizen Saint. She is the Patron Saint of Immigrants.

Where is Mother Cabrini buried?
Mother Cabrini is buried in Italy.

Do I have to be Catholic to come to the Shrine?
No, we welcome all persons of all faiths to pray at the Shrine.

How can I volunteer at the Shrine?
We enjoy having volunteers help us throughout the year. If you are interested please contact us at 303-526-0758.

Do you have a priest to talk to?
No, we do not have a full time priest at Mother Cabrini Shrine.

How can we get information on retreats?
At Mother Cabrini Shrine we have a variety of retreat facilities, but we do not facilitate retreats. If you would like more information on available dates and our different retreat facility options please contact the Shrine at 303-526-0758.

How much does a retreat cost?
Retreat pricing varies depending on what type of retreat you are making at Mother Cabrini Shrine. Generally speaking, for overnight retreats at our Stone House, the cost is $70 per night, per person. This includes three meals a day and the use of our linens. Or the cost is $60 per night, per person. This includes three meals a day and you would bring your own linens. We ask for a $200 non-refundable deposit once an overnight retreat is booked. This money is non-refundable, but it will be deducted from your final bill. For day retreats we generally ask for a $5 donation per person for the use of our facility. The cost of meals is extra and is as follows: $5 for breakfast, $10 for lunch and $10 for dinner.

Can I buy a candle at the Grotto?
Yes you can. We have a candle machine at the Grotto that allows you to buy candles. We also sell candles in our Gift Shop.

Do you have directed retreats by a sister?
No, our sisters and/or staff does not facilitate any retreats.
